April News: Let's Write and Read!

Maybe it’s spring. Maybe it’s me. Whatever the reason, I’m excited about Camp NaNoWriMo. I love Camp NaNo, the twice a year writing event in April and July, because you can work on ANY creative project, not just a novel. It can be revisions or first drafts. You can set different goals, like writing every day, writing for a certain number of hours, or vlogging on a daily/weekly basis. You can set small word count goals or work on multiple projects. You can create any goal you want for Camp NaNo and that’s the beauty of it, that you can set goals geared toward YOUR deadlines and long-term dreams.

My CP Bestie and I have two more virtual writing retreats scheduled for April. Also, I plan to join Sarra Cannon for her next HB Word Sprint Group virtual writing retreat. I'm still struggling with lockdown fatigue, and unfortunately it's affecting my focus. Hopefully these retreats will help me stay on track and achieve my goals. *fingers crossed* Check out the new status bar on my BOOKS IN PROGRESS page to see how my projects are coming along.

BOOKS TO BINGE
Spring is when I start thinking about my Summer Reading Bucket List. I used to read a lot of YA books during my summer break, but now I’m totally into thrillers. They’re the perfect beach reads – especially ones set in coastal European hot spots. Like J.T. Ellison’s Her Dark Lies. I need to get my hands on a copy of this book!

SHOWS TO BINGE
Nothing says guilty pleasure like a V. C. Andrews novel. I admit I’ve been a fan ever since I read Flowers in the Attic. Last month Lifetime entertained fans of the Landry Family books with a four-movie miniseries, which kicked off with Ruby. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t squeal with excitement when I first saw the trailer. I haven't read the books, written by a ghost writer after the author’s death. But after watching the movies, I’m hooked on the Landrys. So much juicy drama! I’ll definitely be rewatching the series and reading the books this summer.
